THE GREEN WOMAN INTRODUCES FREEDOM SUN CREAM

Multi award-winning natural skincare specialists reveal their first organic sun cream

Natural skincare specialists The Green Woman are delighted to launch their natural, organic and plastic-free Freedom sun cream.

The multi-award-winning brand is the creator of the hugely popular Fit Pit natural deodorant, and a range of other COSMOS Certified Organic skincare alternatives including Green Cream moisturiser, White & Green Mineral toothpaste and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Founded in 2013 by sisters Eve and Suzanne Carnall, The Green Woman is ethically focused and keeps sustainability at the heart of everything that it does, creating natural skincare products that are safer for us and the planet.

FREEDOM SUN CREAM – THE FIRST ORGANIC SUN CREAM THAT TICKS ALL THE BOXES

There have been positive moves forward in sun protection alternatives, but environmentally conscious consumers will be thrilled to hear that Freedom sun cream is the first organic sun cream that has all these features in one effective product:

    • Liquid, easy to apply formula

    • Dual action 2 in 1 skin protect and repair

    • Made with natural ingredients

    • Plastic-free

    • Cruelty-free & vegan

    • Water resistant, giving you the confidence to enjoy the sun whilst remaining safe

    • Organic – (Soil Association COSMOS Organic certification in progress)

All of this provides Factor 20 UVA protection – 20 times your skin’s natural protection.

PIONEERING NEW FORMULA

Other natural sun creams have a tendency to appear thick and white on the skin, with a heavy ‘sun block’ coverage. Freedom sun cream’s light, but super moisturising formula contains innovative new grades of non-nano mineral particles with a unique flat shape to scatter the visible light, resulting in better sun protection without the whitening.

The 2 in 1 protect and repair formula contains aloe vera, lavender and apricot kernel oil to help repair and soothe your skin after sun exposure. The gentle and smooth liquid is easy to pour and apply, making it great for kids too. There is also a handy reusable pump dispenser available for extra speedy applications.

WHY SWITCH TO NATURAL SUN CREAM?

There are over 50 synthetic chemicals designed to filter UV light which can be found in mainstream sun creams and moisturisers. Studies have shown that these chemicals are rapidly absorbed by the skin and have been identified in a range of human tissues, including breast tissue.

Some synthetic UV filters are known to be hormone-disrupting chemicals, which can mimic natural oestrogen found in our bodies. Lifetime exposure is an established risk factor for breast cancer.*

These chemicals also end up in rivers and seas, where they can be known to disrupt marine life.**

WHY IS ‘MADE IN THE UK’ SO IMPORTANT?

Hand-making their products right here in the UK is a key part of The Green Woman’s values. Many of the toiletries produced for the UK market are made abroad. The environmental and social impact of products made abroad can be huge, accounting for a large proportion of the UK’s environmental impact.

ORGANIC HEALTH AND BEAUTY – BETTER FOR OUR PLANET

The ingredients in organic health and beauty products are grown in a way that’s designed to respect nature and enhance the health of our planet. This has a beneficial effect at all stages of a product’s life cycle. The plants are grown naturally without pesticides and artificial fertiliser - chemicals that unbalance the ecosystem. Organic farming makes use of what is to hand, limiting the amount of imported resources and working in harmony with nature. The result is healthy and fertile soils, a reduced risk of pollution and a smaller carbon footprint. The ingredients are processed without harmful chemicals and solvents. When the organic products are applied to the skin they are healthy and free from harmful ingredients. And finally, when the product is disposed of at the end of its life - there is no pollution to the environment.

The Green Woman was credited with the prestigious COSMOS Organic Certification in 2021, which is testimony to the care that they take in sourcing ingredients. This ethos is reflected across the board. Even consumables such as the cleaning products they use, are environmentally friendly. All Green Woman products communicate this with easy-to-read labelling so customers can easily find the organic ingredients.

“There is a cacophony of information and noise in cosmetics about organic, but if you read the labels very few of the products actually contain more than one or two organic ingredients. We hope that customers see that they will feel not just reassured but they can feel proud that they are supporting a business that has health and ethics at the forefront of all their decisions.” – Suzanne Carnall, Co-Founder of The Green Woman
