You've probably heard that Coconut oil is amazing for skin, but did you know it’s also your hair’s friend too? It's a natural alternative to many mainstream hair products. So ditch the chemicals, unclutter your bathroom cabinet, and put your coconut oil jar in pride of place.
1. A natural conditioner
2. Blow dry serum
3. To tame hair frizz and split ends
4. A hot oil hair treatment / hair mask
5. Shaving cream.
Conditioner
On dry hair, melt a tablespoon full (medium to long hair) of coconut oil in your hands and work through from the middle to the ends of your hair, leave on for 10-30 mins and wash as normal.
Blow dry serum
After washing your hair, melt a grape size amount (medium to long hair) of coconut oil in your hands and work through from the middle to the ends of your hair. Blow dry as normal. The oil will help stop your hair drying out and reduce damage from the hairdryer.
To tame hair frizz and split ends
Ditch the chemical spritzes. If your dry hair is frizzy you can give it a shiny boost and stick the ends down with a tiny bit of coconut oil. The key word here is tiny, start with about half the size of a pea. Rub it so it melts to cover both hands then work it into the hair and frizz no more.
A hot oil hair treatment / hair mask
Ditch those plastic disposable packets of hair mask. Instead you can melt a tablespoon full (medium to long hair) of coconut oil by placing in a cup in a bowl of hot water. Apply generously to your hair, cover with a shower cap or hair wrap for a few hours (or at least 30 minutes) then shampoo as normal.
Shaving cream
Aerosol cans of chemical foam? Yuk. Back to the trusty coconut. Coconut oil can smooth your shave, and moisturise your skin while having the added benefits of being antibacterial which promotes skin healing. Melt a pea size amount between your hands and apply to the area to be shaved. Then wet shave as normal.
